How would you describe the style of your wedding photography?
I love nature and the interactions between people so I mix the two together and see what happens. It’s candid and colourful and I like to have a little bit of fun getting creative.
You’re located in lovely North QLD. Are a lot of your bookings destination weddings?
I’m so lucky to say yes to this question. Almost every wedding I shoot is a destination wedding. It means pretty places and happy couples on holiday, the best combination for photos! Sometimes though, a city wedding feels like a destination wedding for me, it’s nice to shake it up a bit and photograph in new places far away from home.
I’m sure you love each and every wedding you shoot…but tell us about a particularly memorable wedding or moment you’ve photographed?
The first wedding I shot in 2011 was with a gorgeous family of three that were also expecting a new little edition very soon. After the ceremony, Raquel (the bride) said to me, “Do you think it would matter if I went swimming, would your camera be okay in the water?”, Heck yes! We spent the afternoon in the water, Raquel in her dress, bouquet floating, her husband and 5yr old son swimming around in their suits until sunset. So special.

What questions should a bride ask during a consultation with a wedding photographer?
Wedding photography is an investment so make sure you love the style of the photographer you choose and are comfortable with them. Your photographer will no doubt be with you all day so it’s important to be okay with that, if you are you can expect to be relaxed and get great photos with natural emotion. Ask to see a portfolio of work, what they can do for you and how they interpret the day would go according to what you want. The last thing you want is to be posed for 3 hours of traditional shots when really all you wanted were creative candid captures and a photojournalistic style. Don’t feel bad asking questions, we don’t tend to bite.
What advice can you give couples to keep in mind on their wedding day?
Just remember it’s about the love you have for each other and smile :)
Describe your dream wedding and location you’d love to shoot?
Take me anywhere! I used to photograph for Lonely Planet and have seen some amazing places that I’d love to revisit for a wedding. Venice would have to rank highest, but then there is Aix en Provence, Paris, Hong Kong, Vanuatu… oh the list is endless. I’ll stop myself now.
