Interview: Zanita Morgan, Zanita Zanita Blog

When choosing bloggers who constantly inspire us to push the creative boundaries of bridal fashion, Zanita Morgan was at the top of our list. As both model and photographer, Zanita's blog Zanita Zanita provides a personal insight into the the fashion industry, aspirational photography & creative collaborations. Her stunning photography & alluring sense of style is a constant inspiration for us at The LANE. Recently we caught up with Zanita (who at the time was planning her own wedding!) to find out more about her world as a blogger & photographer, and thoughts on the wedding planning process...

Can you tell our readers a little bit about yourself? I've been modelling for around 7 years, a fashion blogging for around 3 years and working on my photography for around 2 years. I'm an aesthetic junkie, I love everything fashion and culture - and I'm getting married next month to the man of my dreams! (Note: This interview took place prior to Zanita's beautiful wedding! Pictures from her wedding day are featured in the gallery below, read the full post on Zanita's blog)

Your blog Zanita Zanita, features a lot of your own fashion photography which distinctly captures a mood, moment, and creates such an ethereal beauty in your subject. How did your photography style evolve? I started out taking simple portraits and as my confidence grew I began to direct my models more, and become more experienced in using natural light to flatter face shape and silhouette. The more I shoot the more I understand how to get the best out of my subjects, my number one priority in taking an image is putting my model in their best light.

Fashion & street style blogs are undoubtedly the major influencers for the rise & celebration of personal style within the fashion industry. There is a new sense of freedom when it comes to what constitutes style, and there is so much inspiration available. Did you experience the same sort of creative freedom when sourcing your bridal inspiration? Of course! When it came to looking for references for my own wedding I knew I could seek inspiration from anywhere.  Its important to me that my wedding has a very personal feeling about it, so I have been trying to just include things I like to share with people I love.

What types of resources have inspired your own wedding style?

Style.com, Style Me Pretty and of course The LANE!

Can you tell us a little bit about your look on the day? I wearing a custom gown, something very simple, made from french lace. Its quite similar to the jcrew aveline gown. I've modelled for dozens of bridal houses and magazines and my one prerequisite in selecting a dress was that it must be comfortable. I can't believe how awkward some wedding gowns are to wear!! So much boning and structure, its really too much.

(interview continued under gallery)

What are you looking for in a wedding photographer? Have you chosen your photographer?

I have chosen a photographer - but I wish i could do it. My favourite style of photography is 'fly on the wall' with plenty of close-ups.

What is one of your favourite current looks that can be translated into a bridal or bridesmaid trend? Anything from Rodarte Fall 2011 (Collection Images featured in gallery below)

Something you’ve learned whilst planning your wedding… Less is more.  If you get caught up in the smaller details then it detracts from whats really important, which is marrying the one person you love above all else.

What moment are you most looking forward to on the day? Being announced as Mr and Mrs Morgan in front of all my closest friends and family.

Best thing about your fiancé? He's so inspiring, he encourages me to be the best I can be.

Honeymoon Destination & your essential items!  We're off to Vietnam!  I'll be needing a Canon S95 camera, Karen Walker sunglasses, Peter Alexander pyjamas, Hotel Bondi bikini, Stylestalker sheer shirts.
