Make a statement with an exquisite headpiece that compliments and elevates your bridal gown. Try incorporating oversized flowers, delicate lace or a luxurious hat into your bridal ensemble as an alternative to the traditional veil.
We asked two of our favourite bridal milliners to provide their expert tips on selecting statement bridal accessories...
"Brides should think about the overall look they want to achieve and what they will be comfortable wearing for the ceremony and reception. Some brides choose a piece with a veil that can be detached for the reception when they want to feel more relaxed." - Suzy O'Rourke
"The gown & headpiece must be in harmony; one no more important than the other, bringing a synergy that encapsulates your look. It is most important to think about mood & texture, does the style, fabrication & embellishment of your gown work back with the styling, shape & treatment in your headpiece? They don’t need to match or even use the same fabrication, just as long as they express the same overall mood.
Another important thing for brides to keep in mind is the venue in which she will be married. If you are getting married on the beach you probably want something that is a little more relaxed in terms of styling and something the wind will have a hard time taking, so pieces such as hand made floral headbands & garlands are perfect or if you are getting married on a homestead or a family property perhaps a vintage inspired lace headpiece would be gorgeous." - Kristi Bonnici
