Oracle Fox is one of the most beautiful, artistic, and extremely well edited blogs created by visual artist Mandy Shadforth. The pages of this blog are a true reflection of Mandy's free-spirited, slightly bohemian style and one of my favourite places to get lost in while looking for fashion, travel & artistic inspiration. Mandy & her husband Sammy were recently married in Bali, it's one of the most amazing weddings I've seen & a true reflection of their personal style. Today Mandy's kindly shared these stunning wedding pictures with us, and an interview about the details that were involved...
WHERE: Karma Kandara Resort, Uluwatu, Bali
THEME/STYLE: Relaxed bohemian
PHOTOGRAPHY: Sammy and I were not going to bother with wedding photography as being an artist I just never really saw any wedding photography that I thought would match our style and so much photography that I had seen at weddings was so cliché. When I came across Jonas Peterson’s work I thought it was pure artistry and more like beautiful artwork than wedding photography.
BRIDE’S DRESS: Sass & Bide
BRIDE’S SHOES: No Shoes.. just coin anklets
JEWELLERY/ACCESSORIES: A headdress that I designed and had commissioned by a local jeweler
(interview continued under gallery)
WEDDING RINGS: Mandy’s Ring – Abraxas Rex, Sammy’s Ring – Borrowed from a friend for the day, we’re still trying to find one, hehe
STATIONERY/INVITATIONS: My friend Madelyn Rose took photos for our invitations and my sister inlaw Helen Shadforth is a graphic designer and put them together for us.
WEDDING FAVORS/BONBONNIERE: Balinese birdcages and candles.
FLOWERS: White flowers in season in bali. I didn’t carry a bouquet but a bird cage with two birds inside and the outside of the cage was decorated with flowers
CEREMONY & RECEPTION DÉCOR DETAILS: Flowers, candles, birdcages and surfboards
WEDDING PLANNER: Studio Five Bali
WEDDING STYLIST: Myself
CAKE: No cake just good desert!
WEDDING SONGS: I walked down the isle to Voodoo Child (Jimmy Hendrix) and then Sara by Fleetwood Mac. Our wedding song was ‘Draw Your Swords’ by Angus and Julia Stone.
ENTERTAINMENT: We had a traditional Balinese orchestra and then DJ Kevin Kloer after that, we also had some firedancers!
FOOD & DRINKS: Mmm this is hard to remember. Well we had Pina Coladas for guests on arrival then an open bar…which got messy, heheheh. We had a 3 course sit down meal with reef fish and Wagyu beef alternative drop and desert I think was Panna Cotta and/or an amazing chocolate thing that ate 3 of!!!
TRANSPORT: Funnily enough we had to get down to the venue via a travelator.
HONEYMOON: We stayed on in Bali
GIFT REGISTRY: We asked for no gifts please or a donation to the RSPCA
SOURCES OF INSPIRATION: Sammy and I just tailor made everything to what ever we wanted and wanted to make our day just like a big party with our best friends. We only had our parents and siblings and the rest were all our best friends.
A MEMORABLE MOMENT: Hijacking the fire sticks off the dancers and Sammy and I having a go in our drunken states… could have ended badly but thankfully we’ve had some practice.
BEST ADVICE FOR PLANNING A WEDDING/TO BRIDES: Just really be true to yourself. Follow your heart all of the way and make all of your decisions together without listening to other people!
