Summer Days Wedding Styling Competition

WINNER: Oscar & Ruby
WINNER: Oscar & Ruby

What do "Summer Days" mean to you?

To me, Summer evokes a feeling of nostalgia & memories of long, sun drenched days spent at the beach as a child, salty afternoon breezes, a beautiful picnic on the sand, sunkissed skin, simplicity, pure bliss...

When planning your wedding it's so important to think about how you want your ceremony & reception to make you/your guests feel. How do the surroundings represent you and your fiance as a couple and which decor elements will help convey this. Start by making a list of the words and emotions you feel represent you and begin the process from there.

We asked a selection of the industry's top wedding stylists what "Summer Days" means to them, & challenged each stylist to create a beautiful wedding tablescape that represented that feeling. The results are simply breathtaking.

If you're a newly engaged bride planning a beachside wedding or a summer garden soiree, you're going to love the creative styling that have been put together for you in our Summer Days Wedding Styling Competition!

UPDATE: We have a winner! A huge congratulations to Oscar & Ruby from Sydney who received the most votes for their beautiful table setting & have won an advertising package to promote their work on The LANE. Jessica from Oscar & Ruby created a gorgeous children's wedding table inspired by memories of summer holidays spent on the North Coast of New South Wales...

“The brief for this shoot was to style a summer themed wedding table. So, I decided to draw inspiration from my memories of spending the summer school holidays at Forster on the New South Wales North Coast. After hanging out all day at the beach, catching waves, building sandcastles etc…. we would head to the Great Australian Ice-Creamery for an afternoon treat. I remember vividly the rows and rows of creamy, delicious ice cream, making it very hard to choose only one flavour. Luckily we would return everyday for two weeks, allowing me to slowly work my way through them all!

To replicate this sense of fun, a wedding table designed specifically for children was created.  An old wooden door, featuring great lines and texture was sourced by Oscar and Ruby. Paired with some reclaimed turned wooden legs and painted a high gloss white we had a nice bright base for all the colourful details!

Vintage ice-cream sundae glasses served as perfect vessels for bright coloured crayons, metallic picnic cups added a little bling and were a great contrast to the wooden table.

The backdrop created from strips of ribbon and lace replicates the rows of ice cream flavours and follows the colour palette used on the table. The tableware features vintage china in creamy shades, placed on chalky white plates by Vera Wang. Mis-matched napery and cutlery painted white helps to create a child-friendly casual vibe whilst not being typically childish.

The table, finished off with bright pops of colour from the freshly picked dahlias, and creamy shades of white and butter yellow roses, is a little wedding guests delight! Yum!” – Jessica Anderson, Oscar & Ruby

Second place went to Romeo's Chair (Sydney) followed very closely by The Stylish Soiree (California). The team here at The LANE are completely torn! We think they're equally as stunning and completely individual approaches to a summer wedding. Thank you so much to all of the talented stylists who entered. Make sure you take a look at their beautiful entries & descriptions at the LANE blog and take a look at the stylist's websites for contact details & incredible styling inspiration...
